A recent reshuffle in management at Sweet Cherry has seen Lara Clift and Rhiannon Izard promoted.
Clift, formerly the sales and rights director, has been made publisher, a role that was previously occupied by the press' m.d. Abdul Thadha. Meanwhile Rhiannon Izard has been promoted to the role of art director of acquired projects and company branding. She was formerly the senior designer.
The Publishers Association's 2019 diversity survey of the publishing workforce listed 45% of Sweet Cherry's leadership roles fufilled by women, with over 55% of all management roles occupied by black, Asian and minority ethnic employees.
Clift said: “There are many ways for publishing to be more inclusive, and it starts within. Our Leicester office presents publishing as a viable career to those outside London, and we also embed inclusivity into our leadership team. As one of the few people of colour in a publisher role, I strive towards making publishing a more diverse industry for all."
