Angry Robot has signed a six-figure deal for three more novels by Wesley Chu.
The deal is the biggest that the sci-fi publisher has done. World English rights to the the new series, beginning with The Rise of Io, were signed from agent Russell Galen,
The Rise of Io and the following books will be set in the same universe as Chu's Lives of Tao books, the last of which, The Rebirths of Tao, will be published by Angry Robot in May next year. The Rise of Io will take place eight years on from the current series, expanding the universe and providing an entry point for new readers.
Managing director and publisher Marc Gascoigne said: "Wesley Chu’s Tao series has been a runaway success for Angry Robot, and we’re delighted that he has re-signed for us for this brand new trilogy of novels. He manages to combine lofty science fiction themes with pure Hollywood pacing, and quite frankly his novels just rock. With Angry Robot recently moving to new owners, Watkins Media Ltd, we’re delighted to have the resources to take Wes’ sales to a whole new level. His world domination is now only a matter of time.”
Angry Robot was sold by the Osprey Group in October, becoming part of Watkins Media Ltd.
