Christmas comes early for bookshops as new restrictions prompt surge in trade

Booksellers are remaining upbeat despite a myriad of new coronavirus restrictions being imposed across the British Isles, with some already reporting stellar Christmas-style sales.

As The Bookseller went to press, measures included full lockdowns with bookshop closures in Ireland and Wales, a “circuit-breaker” that spared retail in Northern Ireland, and a three-tier system for England.
