A memorial celebrating crime writer Agatha Christie is to be erected in London's West End, after Westminster council granted planning permission last night (8th August).
The bronze statue of the famous novelist will feature a large book with an oval opening containing a portrait bust of the author, and is designed by sculptor Ben Twiston-Davies, the BBC reports.
The memorial will be positioned between Great Newport Street and Cranbourn Street, Covent Garden, with the location chosen because eight theatres have shown her work in the area, including "The Mousetrap" which has been running in the West End since 1952.
The statue will be erected by the end of the year.
