Independent publisher Choc Lit has bought a contemporary debut thriller and a modern day version of Jane Austen's Persuasion.
Director Lyn Vernham bought world rights to Never Coming Home by Evonne Wareham, directly from the auction. The book will be published next year and is described as "a complex mystery plot as well as a romance at its heart", set across London, Italy and the United States.
Vernham said: "We're delighted to have Evonne on board she’s an extremely talented author and her novel is a gripping tale that I’m sure will have the readers guessing all the way through."
Vernham also bought world rights to Juliet Archer's second novel, Persuade Me, directly from the author. It will be published in September 2011 and is the second in the Darcy and Friends series, which are modern day updates of Jane Austen novels.
