Chelsea Clinton pens book to inspire tweens

Penguin Random House UK will this autumn publish a children’s book by Chelsea Clinton about the challenges the world is facing, and what young people are doing to combat these changes.

It’s Your World: Get Informed, Get Inspired & Get Going! is aimed at young people aged 10-14 and addresses issues such as poverty, homelessness, food insecurity and gender equality. It will include visuals such as charts, graphs and photographs.

“In It’s Your World, I try to explain what I think are some of the biggest challenges facing our world today, particularly for young people,” said Clinton. “I also explore some of the solutions to those challenges and share stories of inspiring kids and teenagers doing amazing work to help people and our planet have brighter and healthier futures. My hope is that the book will inspire readers to realize that they can start making a difference now, in their own way, for their family, their community, and our world.”

PRH UK will publish the book 15th September, with price yet to be announced, simultaneously with Penguin Random House divisions in the US, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

Jill Santopolo, executive editor of Philomel Books, part of Penguin Young Readers Groups in the US, said she commissioned the book after watching Clinton speak on "The Daily Show".

“She explained non-communicable diseases in a way that made them easy to understand and talked about her father's heart surgery,” she said. “I paid closer attention. She was a storyteller.”

Clinton, who lives in New York, is also the vice chair of the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation.
