Man Booker Prize-shortlisted novelist Neel Mukherjee has been signed up for a further novel with Chatto & Windus.
Senior editor Poppy Hampson acquired world rights in all languages for A State of Freedom, in a deal with Peter Straus at Rogers, Coleridge & White.
Mukherjee's second novel, The Lives of Others, is currently one of the six shortlisted books in the running for the Man Booker Prize, announced on the 14th October.
A State of Freedom, set in contemporary India, explores themes of migration and flight, told through the lives of three characters.
Hampson said: "Publishing Neel is a joy – The Lives of Others established him firmly as one of our most exciting and ambitious writers at work today."
