The Big Green Bookshop is set to hold events at The Old Café – in the former Foyles Charing Cross Road – in an “exciting new partnership.”
The Old Café in Foyles’ former home was always a popular venue with literary folk and is still operating after the bookseller moved its flagship store down the road last summer.
Now Wood Green’s Big Green Bookshop has hooked up with the owners to run bookish events in The Old Café.
Simon Key, co-owner of The Big Green Bookshop, said: “Obviously, its location lends itself to more literary events and so the Cafe and The Big Green Bookshop have teamed up with the intention of becoming the cafe a new and exciting central London venue for such things.”
He added: “The one thing that we always get from people is that Wood Green is too far away, but it is only six stops away from central London. But people wouldn’t come here, so now we have gone to central London.”
Key said he hoped to hold some “big literary events’ there along with The Big Green Bookshop’s Stand Up Comedy night and Book Swap event, but that no events had been confirmed at present.
The events will be announced in the next few weeks.
