The Midwife's Confession author Diane Chamberlain is to move from Mira to Pan Macmillan in a three-book deal.
Pan Macmillan publishing director Wayne Brookes acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Angharad Kowal at Writers House UK in a "fiercely fought auction". St Martin's Press will publish in the US and Canada.
Brookes said: "Diane was the subject of a hotly contested auction and it's not hard to see why. She is quite simply an amazing storyteller, her mix of mystery, romance and emotion is totally captivating.
"We will publish the first novel in 2013 with a huge fanfare, and work very closely with our sister company St Martin's in turning Diane Chamberlain into a global brand."
Chamberlain added: "My UK readers rock! I'm thrilled that they love my stories and it's been amazing and gratifying to hear from so many of them. I'm excited about the move to Pan Macmillan and know it will help me share my books with many more UK and Commonwealth readers in the years to come."
Chamberlain's first title with Pan Mac will be published in 2013.
