Century bags Lorraine Kelly self-help guide

Century has snapped up Lorraine Kelly's self-help guide to "living a brighter life".

Shine will be published on 31st October 2019 by Century, an imprint of Penguin Random House, in hardback and eBook, with a simultaneous audiobook publication from Penguin Random House Audio. Cornerstone m.d. Susan Sandon and Century senior editor for non-fiction Zennor Compton acquired world rights from Professor Jonathan Shalit, OBE at InterTalent.

"Shine will be a personal and practical guide that brings together all of Lorraine’s accumulated wisdom from her career, as well as her experiences as a mother, wife and friend," said Century. "Despite her hectic schedule, Lorraine has learned how important it is to listen to your body and heart, and take control of your life. Whether making small changes to your daily routine or overhauling your lifestyle in order to achieve those bucket-list goals, Shine will show readers how to live every day to the fullest. Warm, insightful and fun, Shine is a self-help book from the heart."

Kelly, who celebrates her 60th birthday as well as 35 years in television this year, said: "I am so excited to be publishing this book with the team at Century, who understood my vision from the very start. Women often ask me how I manage to keep my energy, positivity and enthusiasm up, day in, day out. To be honest, like all of us, I have my off days. I’ve suffered with anxiety and struggled with the menopause, but I’ve found ways to get my shine back. I want to share all of those experiences and the  lessons I have learned with other women so that we can all make every day a little sunnier."

Compton added: "Lorraine Kelly is a true national treasure. Charismatic, dedicated and down-to-earth, she’s earned her place as television icon. We are grateful to Lorraine for writing such an honest, practical and uplifting book and we know readers will love it too. Shine will make both the perfect pick-me-up and a beautiful gift, and we’re so proud to be publishing it this autumn."
