Literary agent Lauren Pearson has signed a four-book deal with Scholastic, making her debut as an author.
The Crabtree School series follows the adventures of seven-year-old Ava Alexandra Hughes. She is about to start year three at the eponymous school but the year six class is refusing to leave, meaning Ava and her friends are stuck in year two. Between them they come up with a plan to get rid of the year six pupils, once and for all. The first book, Crabtree School: Year Two Forever and Ever, will be published in paperback (£4.99) in September 2015.
Scholastic signed the world rights to four books from Stephanie Thwaites at Curtis Brown, where Pearson is also a children's book agent .
Commissioning editor Helen Thomas said: “In Crabtree School, Lauren Pearson has completely and brilliantly captured life through the eyes of little girls. This series is the perfect blend of real family, friends and school life with a wonderful twist of imagination that will delight and capture the hearts of young readers.”
