Cavallero steps down as RH Mondadori c.e.o.

<p>Riccardo Cavallero, c.e.o. of Random House Mondadori, is to step down at the Spanish publisher at the end of 2009. Instead he will become the general manager of the separate trade-book business of Italian publisher Mondadori. He will be responsible for all of the company&rsquo;s worldwide general interest book publishing operations and activities.<br /><br />Discussions about appointing a successor are underway. In letter to staff Markus Dohle, chairman and c.e.o. of Random House Group,&nbsp; and Maurizio Costa, deputy chairman and c.e.o., said: &quot;We are committed to appointing a new c.e.o. who will build upon our strengths as print-book publishers and also will lead us to become the number one Spanish-language digital-book publisher.&quot;</p><p>Mondadori and Random House formed a joint venture eight years ago &quot;to bring our authors&rsquo; books to the widest possible readership in Spain, Latin America, and internationally&quot;. </p>
