Welsh independent Firefly Press has acquired world rights to The Velvet Fox, a sequel to Catherine Fisher’s middle grade novel The Clockwork Crow.
Scheduled for release in October, The Velvet Fox returns to the Victorian Mansion of Plas-y-Fran where orphan Seren Rhys is enjoying her first summer after rescuing Tomas from enchantment. But soon a mysterious new governess and figures from a bewitched toy carousel mean Seren once again has to call on her old ally, the Clockwork Crow.
Publisher Penny Thomas, who acquired the novel from Lesley Pollinger at Paper Lion, said: “We’re thrilled to be publishing The Velvet Fox with Catherine. Her writing sparkles with authenticity and magic and it’s a privilege to be working with her.”
