British designer Cath Kidston has signed a deal with Pavilion for a book mixing lifestyle, memoir and interior design that offers “unprecedented insight” into her creative process.
Creative director Helen Lewis scooped world rights in all languages for A Place Called Home direct from the author. It will be published in hardback in April 2020.
“In her new book, the founder of the eponymous brand will invite readers on a tour of her Gloucestershire home, sharing stories, decorating tips and inspirational ideas and revealing the memories and motivations behind her style choices,” the synopsis says. “Beautifully photographed by internationally renowned interiors photographer and author Christopher Simon Sykes, this book will reveal a remarkable life in design.”
Kidston said: “I am delighted to be working again with Helen Lewis at Pavilion Books after collaborating with her on many bestselling books over the years. A Place Called Home is the very personal story of my quest to find my dream home and my subsequent creation of the interiors. It encompasses my love of print and colour and the excitement of working on a new design project after my Cath Kidston years.”
Lewis added: “I have worked with Cath very closely over the last few years on her lifestyle and craft books published in conjunction with her retail business Cath Kidston. Since leaving the business she established over 20 years ago, Cath has come to Pavilion with her most personal publishing project to date. It has been a delightful experience putting the content together with Cath and the hugely talented interiors photographer Christopher Simon Sykes who has worked alongside her, capturing and showcasing her private country home.”
