Emily Cary-Elwes has been appointed by Hurst Publishers as its new head of publicity.
She joins on 8th September, succeeding Alison Alexanian who is moving to Profile Books as publicity director.
Cary-Elwes was most recently head of publicity at W W Norton & Company where she led the team responsible for adult and children’s books, covering a list that ranged from non-fiction and fiction to children’s books, lifestyle and cookery titles. Before that she worked at Virgin Books, Octopus and Hodder Education.
She said: “I can't wait to start promoting such a diverse and quality list. It’s an exciting prospect to be working for a distinguished independent UK press that publishes on a global scale. I am looking forward to demonstrating to the media and wider public just what this publisher has to offer.”
Kathleen May, associate publisher and head of sales and marketing at Hurst, said: "Emily's experience working with both trade and academic titles is invaluable to Hurst, and we are eager to welcome her. We're confident that her professionalism and dedication will help grow Hurst's profile and continue to amplify the list.”
