Carter becomes Random editor-at-large

<p>Random House has created the new position of editor-at-large, which will be filled by Chatto&amp;Windus editorial director Rebecca Carter. She takes up her new role in October, when she will work on selected projects from the imprints of RH Division (mainly Chatto, Cape and Harvill Secker) concentrating exclusively on the editing of text.

Carter has been at Chatto for a decade, and acquired Diane Evans' 26A and Suite Francaise, as well as authors Gerard Woodward and Xinran.
