Carlton Books has announced the seven official Rugby World Cup (RWC) titles it is releasing this summer as the competition’s official publisher.
There are four titles on the Carlton Kids list and three on the Carlton Books imprint. Three titles will be published in July (The Official Rugby World Cup 2015 Activity Book by Tasha Percy, The Official Rugby World Cup 2015 Fact File by Clive Gifford and IRB Rugby World Cup 2015: The Official Tournament Guide by Andrew Baldock) and four titles in August (The Official England Rugby World Cup 2015 Guide by Julie Bennetts, England Rugby Official Junior Supporters’ Guide by Gifford, The England Rugby Miscellany by Chris Hawkes and The Official England Rugby Superstars by Joe Fullman).
The books will be in a variety of formats and range in price from £6.99 to £14.99. This list marks the first time that the RWC has engaged with children’s titles.
Carlton has previously been the official publisher for the FIFA World Cup, the UEFA Champions League and the London 2012 Olympics.
Piers Murray Hill, editorial director at Carlton, said: “Carlton is the go-to publisher for major international sporting events. This year’s official RWC programme is based on our experience of adult and children’s formats and price points that we have been successful with for other sports events publishing.”
Carlton approached the RWC team in autumn 2012 after Carlton’s Olympics publishing programme had finished. Murray Hill said: “They have checked and commented on every word, image and design layout. They are fully engaged with the programme and, at the same time, understand that our expertise is second to none.”
The Rugby Football Union and RWC will also be involved with promoting the titles.
