The Carlton Publishing Group has appointed Russell McLean as children’s publisher. He replaces Samantha Sweeney, who has moved to Octopus.
McLean previously worked as editorial director at Red Lemon Press, part of Bonnier publishing, and Kingfisher (Pan Macmillan). He started his career in production at Reed Children’s Books (1995-98), shortly before it became Egmont Children’s Books.
Carlton Publishing Group m.d. Frank Chambers said: “We’re delighted that Russell has joined Carlton and that he brings all his experience, creativity and energy to growing our children’s list.”
This year Carlton is launching three FIFA World Cup children’s books and launching a new series based on the CBBC series Strange Hill High. It is also publishing several sticker book lines, including the Little Hands Creative Sticker Play series and a Sticker Histories series.
