Canongate is to publish The Abundance and "key" backlist titles by Annie Dillard.
Canongate acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Kate McLennan at Abner Stein on behalf of Lippincott Massie McQuilkin.
"Precise in language and deeply meditative in spirit, this is a landmark collection from one of America's masters", the publisher said. "A winner of the Pulitzer Prize, Annie Dillard is a formative figure in contemporary non-fiction and The Abundance a remarkable showcase of her enigmatic genius."
Senior editor, Jenny Lord, said: "The Abundance is a landmark collection by a formative figure in contemporary non-fiction. Annie Dillard has inspired a generation of nature writers and we are absolutely thrilled to be welcoming her to the Canongate fold with this new book and her key backlist titles."
Canongate has also acquired the backlist titles Holy the Firm, Teaching a Stone to Talk and An American Childhood.
Canongate will publish The Abundance in April 2016 priced at £14.99, and the backlist in e-book format.
