Campaigns for titles by Bolu Babalola, R F Kuang and Bonnie Garmus are among those shortlisted for this year’s Publisher’s Publicity Circle (PPC) Awards, which celebrate the best campaigns carried out by publicists in 2022.
The shortlists are divided into 14 categories, covering everything from hardback fiction to celebrity campaigns and children’s.
Lucie Cuthbertson-Twiggs, publicity director for Square Peg at Vintage and chair of the PPC, said: “The media and events landscape continued to be unpredictable and tumultuous in 2022, but the hard-working, tenacious and talented publicists from across our industry once again rose to the challenge!
“Through their impressive and inspiring campaigns they have shown how dynamic, creative, strategic and dedicated they are to reaching readers and putting books at the top of the cultural agenda. I want to congratulate everyone on the shortlist and, to all who submitted, all of your campaigns were extraordinary. It was competitive and you made it very difficult for the judges. I look forward to seeing you at the awards dinner in March and raising a toast to all book publicists.”
The awards will be judged by an independent panel including representatives from sponsoring organisations, and winners will be announced at a ceremony for PPC members on Monday 13th March.
The winners of the PPC Annual Awards go forward to be considered for Publicity Campaign of the Year at The British Book Awards. The Nibbies judges will select a shortlist from the category-winning campaigns at the PPC Annual Awards.
