Campaigns for David Cameron's memoir, the "Fleabag" scripts and Charlie Mackesy's Christmas hit The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse have been nominated for the Publishers’ Publicity Circle (PPC) Annual Awards.
Recognising the best campaigns carried out by publicists in 2019, campaigns for the Booker winner The Testaments, memoirs by Julie Andrews and Billy Connolly and Philip Pullman's The Secret Commonwealth have also been nominated.
Sophie Calder, divisional publicity director at HQ, HQ Digital, Mills & Boon, and Chair of the PPC said: "Year-on-year, publicity campaigns across the industry are progressively more inventive, strategic, and tangibly effective. I would like to congratulate my colleagues on their dynamic, relentless, and awe-inspiring work in 2019. This year, a place on the PPC shortlist was incredibly hard-won, notably for the Best Newcomer award where there was an abundance of new talent. I will look forward to celebrating with the shortlisted publicists and to our judges’ verdict at the PPC Annual Awards Dinner."
The awards will be judged by representatives from sponsoring organisations, with the winners revealed at the PPC Annual Awards Dinner that will take place on the 2nd March 2020 at Baltic restaurant in Southwark. The awards are sponsored by The Bookseller, Waterstones, Connell MPA, Nielsen Bookscan, Books Are My Bag, Netgalley, Bristol Festival of Ideas, Delicious., YALC, The Edinburgh Book Festival, and Jo James.
A selection of the category winners of the PPC Annual Awards will form the shortlist for Publicity Campaign of the Year at The British Book Awards.
