Bloomsbury is to publish a tie-in title by former "Gardener's World" presenter and gardening journalist Monty Don. Richard Atkinson at Bloomsbury acquired world rights to My Dream Farm from Caroline Michel at PFD.
The title will come out in spring 2010 in hardback, with paperback to follow. It will coincide with a six-part Channel 4 series of the same name, in which Don will follow six couples who escape the city life to set up self-sufficient, green homes in the country, in what the publisher describes as "a modern real-life re-enactment of 'The Good Life'". The book will mix Monty's diary with observations on the TV show stories.
Don said: "This is a book for everyone who has ever dreamed of escaping the urban treadmill. Based on a lifetime's experience, it will cover every aspect of smallholding but is aimed squarely at the novice."
Atkinson said: "Don is the perfect person to write this book, which will combine the charm and intelligence he brings to all of his work."
