The full line-up for this year’s Bookseller Marketing and Publicity conference has been announced, with speakers including YouTube’s Jessica Elvidge and Buzzfeed’s Daniel Dalton.
The conference, which takes place two weeks today on 8th July, will bring together more than 270 book marketing and publicity professionals from across the trade.
Among the speakers will be Elvidge, YouTube’s creative strategist, who will lead a session on bringing books to the video-sharing website.
Dalton, a staff writer at social news and entertainment website Buzzfeed in the UK, will speak about lessons publishers can learn from the use of social media on Buzzfeed's website.
There will also be sessions on successful marketing and publicity campaigns, including head of PR Tania Vian-Smith and marketing manager Gemma Green from Penguin Children’s Books talking about Sally Green’s debut YA novel Half Bad, and editor Clare Nelson and publicity director Alice Broderick from Vintage Books talking about publicity on a shoestring in relation to the campaign for John Williams’ Stoner.
Meanwhile Katie Sadler, digital marketing manager at HarperCollins, and Danny Asling, brand manager at Wiley, will speak about how publishers have used social media effectively in their campaigns.
There will also be sessions on writing good copy, email marketing, and thinking creatively in literary PR.
The conference will be held at The Southbank Centre in London, in partnership with the Book Marketing Society and the Publishers Publicity Circle.
The event is open to anyone who wants to market and publicise books. Tickets are still available on the conference website. Bookings close on 1st July.
