Brookmyre embarks on whirlwind Scottish tour to support reopened bookshops

Author Chris Brookmyre has embarked on his own informal book tour to promote latest novel The Cut (Little, Brown) and to support reopened Scottish bookshops.

Accompanied by his wife Marisa and travelling entirely under their own steam, Brookmyre's tour kicks off at Bookmark in Grantown-on-Spey on 18th June and will take in Inverness, Ullapool, Skye, Edinburgh, St Andrews, Dundee and Aberdeen. It culminates at Far From the Madding Crowd in Linlithgow on 26th June.

Brookmyre said: “The Cut was published while everything closed, so I was amazed at the efforts of the independent bookshops to make their readers aware of it. I had an online launch with Portobello Books, at which I sold more copies than I ever have at a live event. I am hugely grateful, which is why I’m desperate to visit all these shops in the real world.”

Duncan Furness, of Topping & Company, said: “This is a great initiative by Chris Brookmyre. Chris and many other authors really went out of their way to support high street booksellers during lockdown with online events, and we are now delighted and excited to finally be able to welcome author visits once more.”
