Bright Group International, the agency that represents children’s illustrators such as Benji Davies and Yasmeen Ismail, is opening an office in the US.
The company said Bright USA, which is based in New York, “will grow exponentially over the next few years as we explore the vast and deep landscape of the US children’s publishing world”.
The US office is run by managing agent Alli Brydon, a children’s book editor who will lead the acquisition of US-based authors and illustrators.
Brydon is joined by creative agent Anne Moore Armstrong (formerly of Little Brown & Company and Candlewick Press), US agent James Burns and publishing assistant Alex Gehringer.
Bright Group International was launched in 2005 by m.d. Vicki Willden-Lebrecht and now comprises four divisions – Bright Children’s Illustration, Bright Represents, Bright Art Licensing and Bright Literary Agency. It works with a variety of major UK publishers, including Usborne and Hachette.
