The Bright Agency launches new website for Chinese clients

The Bright Agency has launched a Chinese website to serve its Chinese clients. The website will cover children's publishing, art licensing and illustration and is the next major step in the agency's journey into the territory, Bright said.

The website will cater to the firm's existing Chinese client base, in addition to welcoming new opportunities in the country. It will include portfolios, licensing pages, collections, blogs and resources for Mandarin-speakers. The site will also offer Chinese publishers and businesses the ability to work directly with Bright’s wide range of exceptional global talent.

Since first attending the Shanghai International Book Fair in November 2018, head of the China division and senior education agent Lucie Luddington has steadily grown Bright’s presence in China, bringing in additional agents including Susan Penny and Ilaria Vigilante, a fluent Mandarin speaker. Since, they have worked together to translate Bright's industry expertise into this new territory.

Bright China already works with a wide range of Chinese clients across publishing, art licensing and illustration. Bright Agency's current projects in the territory focus on developing original concepts and author/illustrated titles with the first publication in simplified Chinese, re-drawing of beginners' English picture books, non-fiction books, branding and packaging projects, and illustrating for stationery, puzzles and games.

Founder and m.d. of The Bright Agency Vicki Willden-Lebrecht said: "Realising the enormous potential of the market and capitalising on the opportunities in China, we have made strong in-roads into this territory in the last year. The launch of the China Division website is an incredibly exciting moment in Bright’s story and I look forward to the new opportunities and Chinese talent the website will attract."
