The Quarto Group Inc has appointed David Breuer as the director of Co-edition Publishing, replacing Piers Spence.
Breuer is currently chief executive of Royal Academy Enterprises Ltd, which operates the commercial activities of London's Royal Academy of Arts, including its retail, book and magazine publishing operations.
He replaces Piers Spence at the illustrated publisher. Spence has stepped down from the role to run a farm in rural Devon where he plans to raise rare-breed pigs and plant a vineyard. Breuer will begin in February.
Lawrence Orbach, chairman and chief executive of Quarto, said: "It is our good fortune that the incoming director, David Breuer, as well as being an experienced businessman and trade publisher is also very familiar and comfortable with the Quarto business model through the very successful and respected boutique Iqon co-edition list he runs during his free time."
The chairman also paid tribute to Spence, who will act as a consultant for at least six months.
"We all thank Piers for his great contribution and warm spirit,' Orbach said.
