Stephenie Meyer's The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner has yet to reach the top spot on the iBookstore following its publication at the weekend.
But the weekend's sales at Waterstone's have made it the chain's fastest-selling book of the year so far.
The book, released on the iPad on 6th June, a day later than its official publication date elsewhere, is currently third in the iBookstore's chart, behind Chris Evans It's Not What You Think and Peter James' The Perfect Murder.
The Meyer title is priced at £8.99 on the iBookstore, almost £4 more than the price of the print edition on Amazon.co.uk, where it is currently top of the books chart.
The Kindle edition is priced at $11.74 (£8.15). The e-book version is not yet available on Waterstones.com.
However, bookshops around the UK hosted celebrations on Saturday, including special breakfasts and vampire makeovers.
The Daily Telegraph reported that http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/books/booknews/7806525/Vampire-fans-f... target="_blank">several fans had queued from early morning to get hold of their copy.
At Waterstone's, where the book was being sold half-price, the first copies arrived at the flagship store in Picadilly on Friday afternoon, sealed in Bree Tanner's coffin with the words 'Do not disinter until 5.05am 5.6.10' inscribed on it.
It was carried into the store by six "Twilight-inspired wolfboys", accompanied by Waterstone's Kate Skipper and the 14-year-old winner of Waterstones.com 'face of Twilight' compeition, Heloise Devaux, of Twickenham.
Waterstone's spokesman Jon Howells said: "We had fantastic sales of Bree Tanner over the weekend, making it the fastest selling book in Waterstone's this year."
