The festival, which will take place over the winter half term (9th-22nd February), will comprise literature, music, theatre, poetry and dance events, as well as a children’s version of question time, entitled “What would I do as prime minister for the day?”.
Russell Brand will read from The Pied Piper of Hamelin (Canongate), while Chris Riddell will provide live illustration. Judith Kerr is set to read from her semi-autobiographical book for older children When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit.
Other events include a celebration of the 150th anniversary of Alice in Wonderland (Macmillan) and readings from authors Philip Ardagh, Cerrie Burnell, Steven Butler, Cathy Cassidy, Jonny Duddle, Neil Griffiths, Petr Horacek, Anthony Horowitz, Gareth P. Jones and Liz Pichon.
On the music side, the Mahogany Opera Group will perform "Brundibár", a children’s opera by Hans Krása, and Sir Simon Rattle will conduct a free family concert by the Young Orchestra for London.
Imagine 2015 is sponsored by The Book People, which founded The Redhouse Book Awards, which will take place during the festival.
