Pan Macmillan has acquired world English rights to two novels by saga novelist Rita Bradshaw, with the author moving from Headline.
Publishing director Wayne Brookes bought the rights from Caroline Sheldon, with the first book in the deal, Dancing in the Moonlight, to be published in autumn 2013.
Brookes said: "When the opportunity arose to publish Rita, I didn't hesitate. Her stories have it all-passion, drama and a wonderful sense of place, all the ingredients needed for a truly gripping read."
Agent Sheldon added: "Few authors have what it takes to get to the highest peaks of the saga genre-great storytelling ability, warmth in their writing and a feel both for the grit and grime and the happiness of life. Rita has it all in spades."
Bradshaw's novels are set in the north east of England, and she also writes as one of Mills & Boon's contemporary romance authors under the name Helen Brooks.
