Bourne steps down at CUP

Cambridge University Press chief executive Stephen Bourne is to step down from his post in April.

Bourne, who joined CUP in 1997, has been chief executive since 2002. CUP said that under his leadership, CUP had "embraced new technologies; grown substantially a publishing business that was already world-renowned for its high quality; committed significant resources to the developing world; and changed the Press' staff profile to support innovation, including a major restructure of the Press board, announced in December."

Bourne has accepted an invitation to become CUP's president for a further period, "focusing on international relations and helping the new management team with a range of transitional matters", the publisher said.

The process of recruiting a successor begins immediately.
