Borders future uncertain


Borders has revealed that it is considering a possible merger or a move back into private ownership as its share price continues to languish well below its 1998 high. The announcement came as the US bookseller released its latest set of year-end figures.</p><p>

Results at Borders UK, which includes the Books Etc chain, were not available as The Bookseller went to press. The UK company has recently seen the resignations of chairman and chief executive officer Richard Joseph and managing director John Monk.</p><p>
