Boos says number of Frankfurt exhibitors will be down in 2010

The Frankfurt Book Fair will have 6,930 exhibitors this year, a 5% drop on 2009, according to an AFP report. The decline is mainly due to the fact that Argentina is this year's guest of honour and is bringing a smaller delegation than China, which took the role last year, fair director Juergen Boos has told reporters.

Boos has also said that the economic crisis has prevented some exhibitors, particularly those from Eastern Europe, from making the trip to Germany this year. The fair is to focus on the digital sector as reading undergoes a "revolution", Boos said, but would be "dedicated to content", showcasing authors and editors rather than technology.

The fair runs from 6th-10th October.
