Bookstat chart: Rooney rises to the summit

Sally Rooney's Normal People (Faber) has thundered to the top of the Bookstat chart for the week ending 9th May. After debuting in second place a week ago, the Nibbies Book of the Year 2019 leapfrogged Andrew Mayne's The Girl Beneath the Sea (Thomas & Mercer) to claim the top spot. Of course, the 12-part BBC adaptation of Rooney's second novel dropped on BBC iPlayer at the end of April and has reportedly attracted over 16 million requests through the streaming service thus far.
