Online retailer Bookshop.org generates £100k for indies in nine days

Online retailer Bookshop.org has generated more than £100,000 in profit for indie booksellers in just nine days of trading, with 25,000 customers using the website.

Promoted as an alternative to Amazon for socially-conscious shoppers, the site now has more than 300 bookshops signed up. Bookshop.org estimates the £100,000 figure equates to an extra day's trading profit for each participating store.

More than 2,500 affiliates have also signed up, including authors, publishers and book bloggers, including Malorie Blackman, Max Porter, Nikesh Shukla, Eimear McBride, Emma Gannon, Melissa Harri...
