The Bookseller has adjusted its Frankfurt Book Fair coverage to align with the Covid-hit virtual edition of this year's FBF with a digital version of The Bookseller Daily and three Frankfurt-focused news emails.
The Bookseller Daily will be digitally published as a free edition on Wednesday 14th October—the traditional first full day of the fair—and will have its usual blend of news, features, international charts data, opinion as well as columnist Horace Bent. It will also be incorporated into The Bookseller's regular weekly issue, out on 16th October. The three FBF emails, with news from the virtual fair and the latest book deals will be sent out on 14th, 15th and 16th October.
Tom Tivnan, The Bookseller managing editor and editor of the FBF daily edition, said: "As we've seen with London and Bologna this year, though the fairs have gone online, the trade continues to use these events as a way to focus attention with the business around them—the rights trading, the big announcements—continuing at a cracking pace."
The editorial deadline for the FBF daily is Monday, 12th October, while deadlines for the three rights emails are midday the day prior to publication. While the virtual FBF seminar programme is heavily truncated from its typical physical event it will have significant British representation, including talks from Waterstones and Barnes & Noble c.e.o. James Daunt, Canongate commercial director Jenny Fry, Dialogue Books publisher Sharmaine Lovegrove and Penguin Random House senior manager, audience marketing Indira Birnie, The Bookseller's 2020 Shooting Star.
