The Bookseller and the DSC South Asian Literature Festival (SALF) are inviting the book trade and consumers alike to participate in one of the first full-scale surveys of the South Asian books market in the UK.
The online surveys—conducted by Book Marketing Limited—go live today (1st November 2010). The trade survey asks publishers, booksellers, librarians and agents to give the book trade’s views of and practices in the market for books which have South Asian influences, characters, subjects or settings, and which are written in or translated into English. Nigel Roby, managing director of The Bookseller Media Group said: “The South Asian community is, of course, an integral and growing part of British life. These surveys will be one of the first in-depth look into what, how and why that community is reading, and how we as a trade are serving that market.
"The findings may well prove to be invaluable to those who wish to further engage with the South Asian books market. We very much look forward to sharing this information with the trade.”
Top line results of the survey will be presented in an event and panel discussion on the South Asian market at London’s Free Word Centre on the 25th November.
