The Bookseller is set to run a Category Spotlight on William Shakespeare to mark 400 years since the famous playwright’s death.
The spotlight, featuring book previews, analysis and hot backlist titles will run in the issue of 26th February.
Publishers are invited to submit Shakespeare-related titles to feature in the spotlight directly to the previewer Caroline Sanderson (carosande@aol.com) by noon on Friday 12th February.
The trade is gearing up to mark the 400th year since Shakespeare’s death with a range of events and publications.
Yesterday (2nd February), The Booksellers Association encouraged bookshops to join in ‘Shakespeare Saturday’ on 23rd April and will release ‘Bard is My Bag’ totes for retailers to hand out to customers on the day.
Other ways publishers are marking the anniversary of Shakespeare's death includes Oxford University Press, which has created a dedicated Shakespeare website, Cambridge University Press, which is publishing a £400 comprehensive guide to Shakespeare and Profile Books and The Globe which have teamed up to publish a Shakespeare Guide. The 23rd April 2016 also marks World Book Night, which has a Shakespeare theme this year.
