Ben Miller and Rashmi Sirdeshpande will be among the guests on a new industry-focused podcast about children’s publishing, created by marketing agency Rocket and The Bookseller.
"Chapter and Verse: The Art of Selling Children’s Books" will be presented by The Bookseller’s children’s editor Charlotte Eyre, who will in each episode interview an author talking about an aspect of their work, as well as a respected industry expert.
James Erskine, c.e.o. of Rocket, said: “As a business we have been creating best-in-class content, strategy and marketing campaigns for children’s books for the best part of a decade. This project excited us enormously as did working with the industry bible, The Bookseller.
“The podcast series ‘Chapter and Verse’ gives us and the listener a helicopter view of everything that goes into selling a children’s books and I am confident that this series will resonate with those in the publishing industry and beyond.”
Charlotte Eyre, children's editor at The Bookseller, added: "There are so many fantastic children's authors, illustrators and publishers in this country but not enough media space to celebrate their work. This podcast will do just that, as well as give an insight into the publishing and marketing methods that really work."
The podcast will be broadcast every fortnight and the first episode, featuring Ben Miller talking about fairytales, will be released on 5th May. Rashmi Sirdeshpande give insights into making non-fiction books for children in her episode, out on 19th May.
Topics covered in subsequent episodes will include making and selling pre-school books, how to be a successful funny author when you are not a celebrity, and launching as a debut novelist during a pandemic.
The show will be on all podcast platforms, including Spotify.
