Books Etc like-for-likes fall 10%

<p>Borders Group has again blamed weak UK sales to explain its poor worldwide growth, with like-for-like sales at Borders UK stores falling by 5% and at Books Etc stores by 10% for the three months to 22nd October.

Total sales in the international division, of which the UK accounts for around 75%, increased by 6.2% to $125.9m (&#163;73m). Net loss for the segment was $10.4m (&#163;6m) compared to a $2.5m (&#163;1.4m) loss for the same period in 2004, attributable "primarily to lower than expected sales in the UK".
