Bookouture has signed two four-book contracts with Kindle bestsellers Shalini Boland and Carol Wyer.
Associate publisher Natasha Harding has acquired World all language rights including audio, film and TV for three new psychological thrillers by Kindle Top 10 bestseller Shalini Boland. Bookouture has also agreed a deal for the same rights for Boland’s previously self-published bestseller The Millionaire’s Wife, hot on the heels of it being optioned for film by script writer Alanna Thompson.
The Secret Mother, Boland’s first title with Bookouture, has been a "runaway success" reaching number two in the US Kindle charts and number nine in the UK, featuring on the USA Today bestseller list and selling in excess of 160,000 copies, said the publisher.
Harding said: "Combining high concept ideas with gripping narrative, compelling characters and utterly jaw-dropping twists it’s easy to see why readers are so addicted to Shalini Boland’s novels. Watch this space!"
Boland’s second novel, The Child Next Door, has just published. This will be followed by The Silent Sister in July 2018 and the four books in her new contract are scheduled for release between summer 2018 and summer 2019.
Meanwhile, associate publisher Lydia Vassar-Smith has acquired World all language rights for four new police procedurals from Bookouture author Carol Wyer.
Little Girl Lost, the first in Wyer’s Detective Robyn Carter series, published in January 2017 and was a "huge commercial success" for Bookouture reaching number 2 in the UK kindle charts, said the publisher, who added that the series has since gone on to sell over 300,000 copies.
The new deal introduces Wyer’s readers to a new series detective, DI Natalie Ward, and The Birthday, the story of two girls abducted from a children’s birthday party, publishes in September 2018.
Vassar-Smith said: "Carol knows what the market wants. Her police procedurals are jam-packed with suspense with engaging detectives and terrifying serial killers and her reviews are astonishing – readers can’t get enough. We are so delighted to be bringing this exciting new series to Bookouture."
