Bookouture crime thriller author Angela Marsons has signed a three-book print deal with Bonnier Publishing Fiction after selling 1m e-books in less than a year.
Joel Richardson of Bonnier Publishing acquired world English language print rights to Marsons’ first three novels, Silent Scream, Evil Games and Lost Girls, from digital publisher Bookouture.
Marsons' debut thriller Silent Scream was released in Feburary 2015 with Bookouture and has also secured translation rights deals in Italy, Norway, Russia, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Turkey, Germany and Lithuania through the Lorella Belli Literary Agency.
Richardson said: “I have been a great fan of Angela Marson’s writing since I read Silent Scream. I’m hugely excited to have acquired her first three novels for the Zaffre list – this is the beginning of something really special.”
Kate Parking, executive director of Bonnier Publishing Fiction, said: “Angela Marsons’ Detective Inspector Kim Stone has already won the hearts and minds of a million readers and we are absolutely delighted to be working with Bookouture to bring her to a whole new audience in print form. We will publish Silent Scream in paperback in July, backed by a significant marketing campaign to capitalise on Marsons’ astonishing e-book success. This is a very exciting venture indeed.”
Oliver Rhodes, managing director of Bookouture, said: “Angela’s story sums up perfectly why I started Bookouture and we’re very proud of her. I knew that there were highly talented authors who weren’t achieving their full potential through existing publishing models and was sure that, with smart digitally-focused publishing decisons and marketing, we could build a global readership for them."
