Booka Bookshop in Oswestry, The Bookshop Bridport and Woodbine Books in Ireland, have won this year’s World Book Day bookshop competition.
The competition was launched to find the best window and in-store displays that celebrated World Book Day, which took place on 7th March.
Kirsten Grant, director of World Book Day, said: “It’s great to see these fabulously creative displays being rewarded and also the recognition it represents of the effort that so many independent booksellers put into engaging children, schools, customers and their communities on World Book Day.”
The bookshops have each won two tickets to The Bookseller’s Children’s Conference as well as a £100 wine voucher.
This year astronaut Tim Peake and the Duchess of Cornwall helped celebrate World Book Day, alongside authors and illustrators, including Frank Cottrell Boyce, Sibeal Pounder, Alex T Smith, Abi Elphinstone and Rob Biddulph, at events across the country. Authors including Holly Smale and Tom Fletcher toured the UK as part of the World Book Day Share a Story Live tour.
