Book trade in cash plea for libraries

<p>Katherine Rushton</p><p>Publishers, authors and trade associations are up in arms over plummeting levels of book investment across the UK's public libraries, and have revealed plans to lobby the government over the rapidly worsening situation.</p><p>The Publishers Association is to make representations to the government, calling for a boost in library funding and for more of that money to be channelled into books. Chief executive Ronnie Williams warned: "Whatever the government's plans are for libraries, their nucleus must be the borrowing of books. There are [levels of investment] below...
