Book prices drop as tills hot up

<p>Last week the book trade experienced its second busiest week of 2007, with &pound;40.8m spent through the Total Consumer Market, up 5.4% on the same week last year. But the overall average selling price took a tumble, putting Christmas 2007 on target to be one of the cheapest of the twenty-first<br />century.</p><p>The a.s.p. through the General Retail Market, a strong indicator of high street performance, was &pound;7.62 for the seven days ending 17th November, down 0.8% week-on-week and 0.9% down on the same week in 2006.</p><p>Within the charts, <em>Guinness World Records</em> maintai...
