The Book Depository has launched an e-book store, making more than 340,000 e-books available for download. The e-tailer claimed this was "a larger selection than any other UK retailer".
The e-books will be sold in three different formats - ePub, PDF and MS Reader - and the store enables customers to set a default reader, which customises results tailored to that device. The Book Depository is also selling a range of e-book readers and accessories.
Managing director Kieron Smith said: "We want to make buying e-books as simple as possible for our customers. Our default reader feature means people won’t have to worry about searching for compatible formats, only selecting great books from our huge range of superb titles."
As part of the launch, The Book Depository has partnered with For Dummies reference guides to create an EBooks for Dummies guide which will be exclusively available as a free download later in April. More than 11,000 e-books with no DRM restriction are also being made available for free.
