Bonnier has launched a new company, Bonnier Books New Markets, to focus on strategic acquisitions and new business development in book publishing within Europe.
Hartmut Jedicke, c.e.o. of Bonnier Media Deutschland and chairman of the board for Bonnier Publishing in the UK, is c.e.o. for the new company, which is located in Germany. Jedicke will continue in his existing roles alongside his new position.
Jedicke said: “Growth is very important for Bonnier. We will be looking for new books businesses in general publishing and children's books in print or digital form—businesses that have gotten some notice but aren’t too big and are well run.”
Joachim Kaufmann, board member of Bonnier Publishing, will assume the new position of vice-president for Bonnier Books New Markets while continuing as managing director of Hamburg-based Carlsen Verlag.
Bonnier's expansion policy has seen recent UK launches of children's book publisher Hot Key and a scented books division, Smellessence.
