Barnes & Noble has said it will expand its digital business internationally but will not bring its bricks and mortar stores abroad.
At an app developer conference for its Nook tablet in London yesterday (19th March), members of the Nook team repeatedly refused to comment on when the device would go on sale in the United Kingdom.
Claudia Romanini, director of developer relations, said: "In January we announced we were planning international expansion and beyond that it’s a no comment." The retailer has reportedly signed a deal with Waterstones to bring the Nook to the United Kingdom at some point during 2012.
When asked if the retailer would expand physically into international book markets, she said: "It’s our digital business that will expand internationally, not the stores."
