B&N to launch Nook Tablet

Barnes & Noble will launch its first Nook tablet on 16th November, with the US chain bookseller also cutting the price of its Nook Color to $199 (£124.25), and its Nook Simple Touch to $99 (£61.80).

According to documents leaked to technology website Engadget, the Nook Tablet will be launched on 16th November, priced $249 (£155.45), with HD movies, TV shows and music available, as well as access to two million books, magazines and children's books, plus email, web and apps, and free Nook Cloud storage.

The US retailer will be making other changes to its Nook line of e-readers on the same date, with the Nook Simple Touch dropping in price from $139 (£86.70) to $99 (£61.80), and with B&N recommending it was having "25% faster page turns than any other e-reader, a two-month battery life built-in WiFi, and no annoying ads".

Meanwhile, Engadget reports B&N's Nook Color will fall in price to $199 (£124.24), from $249 (£155.48), also on 16th November, with the latest version offering "millions of songs" from services including Rhapsody, Grooveshark, Pandora and MOG, as well as new tailored apps.
