Yorkshire-based indie publisher Bluemoose Books will move into independent bookshop The Bookcase in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire for Independent Bookshop Week (20-27th June).
The week will see a range of activities taking place in the shop, including authors serving customers and links made with other independent booksellers abroad. Author Benjamin Myers, who won the inaugural Gordon Burn Prize for his book Pig Iron (Bluemoose Books) in 2013, has been commissioned to spend a day in the bookshop writing a short story for publication.
Other activities taking place include a writing surgery with author Heidi James, a writing workshop and readings with author Michael Stewart, a creative writing workshop with author Anna Chilvers and debut author Colette Snowden launching her book The Secret To Not Drowning (Bluemoose Books). Bluemoose Books’ editorial team will also provide editorial workshops and publishing advice.
Independent Bookshop Week is part of the Books Are My Bag campaign, and seeks to celebrate independent bookshops in the UK and Ireland. This year, several publishers are offering promotions, including deals and exclusive editions, to bookshops in celebration of the event.
